For the handful of seconds that it takes even a slower system to boot up, it's worth it to not bog your system down by putting it to sleep when not in use. My system boots into Windows in less than 2 seconds on a $150 Samsung 970 PRO 512GB drive, but it did so nearly as fast on a much cheaper drive as well. It's pointless to use it when nowadays even slower PC's boot up fairly quickly. Using the sleep function can cause issues with your system that can slow it down over time. ive given up at this point after trying ever combination, bios, driver, etc etc etc. unfortunately it just will not wake from sleep and it wont even wake the screen when it just dims for stand-by mode. My power button flashes when in sleep mode. Note, after I woke the computer using the attached keyboard and trackpad, about 1 minute later the magic mouse and keyboard connected.

Today after waking my rMBP from sleep, magic mouse and keyboard were not responsive. Make sure it goes to sleep, and didn't just turn the screen off. On a side note, my mouse slows and lags as well when running the game from the desktop, and I don't use sleep mode, but it stops lagging after the game has gotten to its loading screen. You should go into Power Options and disable any sleep modes, or power reduction settings if you want your computer to perform properly for gaming. Sleep mode in Windows has always had its issues. You should shut your system down and boot it back up when not in use.
